Emergency Services
Life at our Nailsea Veterinary Hospital goes on 24 hours a day…
In any emergency ring 01275 852552 for help and advice.
“If you are concerned about your pet at any time give us a ring.”
Providing the best veterinary care to our clients twenty four hours a day is a very important part of what we can offer you – things happen during the hours of darkness and our care goes on.
Also we are aware that problems always seem worse at night so a simple phone call might be all that you need to put your mind at rest. Please do not hesitate to give us a ring if you have any concerns. Our number is always answered by one of our team personally – we do not subscribe to any telephone answering service or ask you to make a second call to get help.
As soon as you contact our hospital out of hours you will receive a triage from one of our team who will then advise how best to proceed. Often we are able to give you first aid advice and suggest you attend your nearest surgery the following day should the condition persist but you may be asked to attend our partner out of hours service at Langford Small Animal Hospital so you need to have arrangements in place to transport your pet yourself.
In a real emergency the best place for your pet is at a centre of excellence, either at our Nailsea Hospital or those provided by Langford. A quick response to your pet’s injuries or condition could mean the difference between life and death or just stop a situation deteriorating. Both hospitals have not only all the equipment and resource they could possibly need to cover any situation but also your pet’s own clinical notes. Our vets do not carry any drugs in their cars so there is rarely anything we can do for your pet in your home so please make arrangements to be able to bring them to a hospital should the need arise – but always ring us first to let us know you are coming.
Our emergency service does involve an out-of-hours consultation charge of £250 but all subsequent treatment is charged at normal rates.
Golden Valley Vets have found that taking a holistic approach to the care of your pet with regular health checks, vaccinations and routine monitoring together with full seven day a week consultations has significantly reduced the likelihood of your requiring out of hours veterinary care and have adjusted our provision accordingly. The new arrangements mean that it is more likely for you to be able to see the same vet every time you visit anyone of our branches, continuity we believe offers you the best care for your pet. We use our partnership with the Langford veterinary services to provide for any new conditions that occur overnight or to take cases likely to deteriorate over night whilst keeping our own team on site over night to look after any of our patients that are hospitalised. Because our team are on site 24 hours a day Langford veterinary services will always have access to your pets clinical history and we will always be involved in their care.
Our out of hours service is expensive to operate and is solely for the use of our own registered clients. If you are registered at another practice please contact them for details of their out of hours provision.
